Odin is just too much of a one trick pony. His attacks really aren't even that strong when not using a gun. I find that late game, even the LAC. AXE does less than 20 damage. He learns no magic. He does have high defense and good HP growth, but Chaz has all those things PLUS a smorgasbord of techniques and skills to work with.

The main thing that makes Odin useful is his ability to use guns, and that's only because of Phantasy Star's random enemy targeting system. So it really depends on what game he is in.

Yeah, of course. The question is which character is more useful WITHIN THEIR OWN GAME. Odin would be rubbish in any other game, if he retained his exact statistics, damage that he does, etc.

Let me put it like this: let's say you took Odin out of PS1, and replaced him with a version of Noah who never learned WIND or THUN. Now let's say you took Chaz out of PS4, and replaced him with a version of Hahn who doesn't learn Nares, Nawat, Savol, Nazan, or any skills.

Which game would become more difficult? If PS1 would, vote for Odin. If PS4 would, vote for Chaz.

PSI, definitely. PSIV characters are so powerful they can miss one member.

Not really a contest here. Chaz hits like a ton of bricks and has great magic to boot. He;s really Rolf 2.0 but who cares?

Odin is great and early game people wont shut up about him. But Chaz brings a lot more to the table.
