Can you defeat the Profound Darkness before it transforms?

In PSIV, when you defeat half of the first PD's form, it goes onto the second form, when you defeat of the second forms HP, it transforms to the third and final form, when you finish all of its HP you win the game.

What would happen if you defeated it before it transformed? If you hacked the game to make the First Form have 1 HP, then you'd defeat it.

But what would happen? Would the game end as normally? Would it just go onto the next form?

I'm really curious now...

I don't think that's how the battle with the Profound Darkness works. The game probably treats each form as a separate monster with its own HP. When you deplete the HP of one form, it replaces it with the next.

It might seem like that but...

When the Profound Darkness transforms, it transforms because half of its HP is gone. The first form has 8000 HP, but when you defeat half its HP, it goes to the next form. You don't actually remove all it's HP.

Assuming that the Profound Darkness changes forms after the HP limit is reached, the change happens at the end of the current turn. Thus, what you're asking is not feasibly possible unless the game is hacked to make each party member deal over 2000 HP damage.
