PS2 Manga

Postby Nate556 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 11:55 am

It's been a very long time since Akui: ill-intent has done a chapter.

So, I was wondering.... is it dead ? Did they give up the PS2 manga ? If so, that's a bummer 'cause i really enjoyed it.

Well, this is the impression he gave me when I asked him about it. He draw professionally and is quite ambitious (as well as talented) with anything he does. This means that he puts a lot of time into the comics he makes, and so he found he couldn't support doing PS2 as a hobby since he has to draw comics that he can sell. He won't accept charity money for doing PS2 either, since he's worried that might put him into a conflict with SEGA, but if you want to support him you can by his own comic and send him extra tip with the payment, slipping a note with it asking him to continue his excellent PS2 adventure... ;)

There were some rumours recently (this summer..?) of him picking it up gain, but no certainties.

Or alternatively you draw it yourself.

I had a brief email exchange with him back in April. He did say at the time that he had recently gotten out all of his old PS2 manga notes and was going to work on the manga again. He did stress that he could not promise a timeline on it, and that there were certain aspects of the work he had already completed that he wanted to improve upon before he started on any new issues. That's understandable, as it's been, wow, about ten years? since he first started working on it.

This was in April, however, and he's an adult with a full schedule, and the manga is a pretty ambitious project, so he might have had to put it aside again.

I've mentioned this in another thread, but send him a note and tell him how much you like his work on the PS2 manga. For one, it's better than coming here and saying "Wow, it's really great, isn't it?" where the creator may or may not see it. When I exchanged with him, he said it was due to the continued fan response to his PS2 manga that he was starting to work on it again.

His own comic series, "Lucian Fallen," is also excellent and though it's short and unfinished, it's a compelling story and of course the art is wonderful. I've enjoyed every issue he's completed so far.

Thanks for the info. I totally understand being too busy to work on it as a hobby. I've thought about buying the Lucien Fallen, but money has been fairly tight all year for me. Maybe when some of these last minute fall-roofs finally get contracted to my crew, I'll have enough left over to buy it.
