Mistranslations of RPG character's names were commonplace back in the old days of gaming.
For example, on the Breath of Fire series, Ryu's first antagonist was called Myria on the BoF games she appeared in (BoF1 & 3), but Square, who translated BoF1 for the Western gaming audience, mistakenly called her Tyr instead of Myria. Despite the bad Western translations that the early BoF games have endured, they still remained faithful to their original Japanese storylines; they were not taken place in an alternate universe.
So, in conclusion, Mike Ripp's "PS alternate universe" theory is definitely flawed.

[Edit by ThePeaGuy on [TIME]1114715700[/TIME]]
