It's a different kind of split. It's like having a baby there.
Nei was an actual part of Neifirst, and was thus bound to her.
Not really. A baby wouldn't have the same characteristics as the parent (remaining HP). Not to mention being able to indefinatly produce more in a matter of moments does rule out the extras being babies.
They're exactly the same as Nei and Neifirst.

I'm with the camp that thinks this is a bad idea. It sounds like this is essentially a sidequest (if you have the save file from PSG1) and some people like to go for 100% completion in games like this. If you don't revive Nei, you haven't gotten 100%. It sounds like it's rapidly becoming canon to me.
I'm not usually a stickler for things like this (which is probably obvious by now ;) ) but the Irreversible Death of Nei is such an important milestone in the development of gaming that it's kind of difficult to just laugh this off. For a lot of people, PSG2 (or in its Trilogy form) is going to be their introduction to PS2, and a lot of the impact is going to be lost.
Lys

It's obviously something you have to *want* to do in order to accomplish it.
I don't think so. What if I'm a PS Trilogy player that just finished PSGI?
Well, considering you have to beat PSG2 first before you can even *begin* the incredibly complex chain of events to revive Nei...it wouldn't effect you at all :P
Moreover, it seems the chain of events (have PSG1 complete save, have PSG2 complete save, plus complete numerous side events) isn't something one could *stumble* onto.
I think people aren't getting the complexity of this process, so let me outline it:
-Beat PSG1, save.
-Beat PSG2, save.
-Replay PSG2, speak to Governor-General before and after acquiring every party member.
-Make sure you get every 'Talk' dialogue in the game
From there, you have to get an item, advance in the game, and I think the Musk Cats give you something that enables her revival (I'm still waiting on my friend to translate the full details).
I see it as more of a payoff for fans, we all know the canon story is that Nei dies and so forth, but an alternate reality where Nei lives is an interesting thing to explore IMHO. I mean, if you don't want to do it, don't read the steps. You're not likely to bump into the process as near as I can tell, it's definitely something you have to seek out :P
-Corey
P.S. - http://www14.plala.or.jp/freedomphantom/nei.html <--There's the whole process. If someone knows Japanese and can translate it, cool. If not, I'll wait on bokokun.
[Edit by PSP on [TIME]1115144828[/TIME]]

> There's nothing in the game saying that the clones lose their quality compared with the original.
i was thinking of the actual science of cloning.
>Riiight. Before fighting Neifirst, Nei has been cloned a lot of times. Doesn't make sense.
which is what i just said

They're exactly the same as Nei and Neifirst.

Obviously not, since Nei dies when Neifirst does.

Nei being revived in Ps 2 isn't a glitch..
She is still in the party, and thus you can use a moon dew to revive her.

She still dies afterwards according to the storyline. So it's a glitch.

-Replay PSG2, speak to Governor-General before and after acquiring every party member.

This is the only thing in your list of so-called "complex" events that I wouldn't do. Everything else is pretty much done by every RPG player worth his salt, and wanting to see everything the game has to offer.

I see it as more of a payoff for fans

More like an insult.
"Hey, Nei can be revived! Her death isn't so traumatic after all!"

Nei comes back to life after sacrificing herself to save mankind. I wonder where I've heard that before...
Nei's subsequent resurrection does not negate the initial impact of her martyrdom. Sounds to me like you're just complaining about changes to canon.

They're exactly the same as Nei and Neifirst.

Obviously not, since Nei dies when Neifirst does.

With no real reason to it.
Perhaps if the enemies that were produced by others would die when the original died, there had been some sort of toxin on Neifirst's weapons that insured Nei would die shortly after, or even her simply commiting suicide there would be some logic to her inevitable death. But since none of those, or anything else that could be plausible, are applied there is no logic to it, only a poorly thought up idea forcing her to die.

[Edit by Demon Child on [TIME]1115155501[/TIME]]

actually, you revive Nei right, you can continue to use her in the original PS 2. 3 people on the PSDB back in 2001 found it to be true.
I've got it on my PS 2 save state.
Nei can be used till the end, she vanishes if you reorganize or see strength at Rolf's House.
P.s. Get off it Benoit. You never talked to the general everytime you got a party member in the original PS 2 anyways.
[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1115156156[/TIME]]

That's exactly what I said.

Nei can be used till the end, she vanishes if you reorganize or see strength at Rolf's House.

Which proves it's a glitch.

Once it's legitimately available, it's canon. She's there. Without cheating.

Canon... we're talking storywise, Benoit. Is Nei's revival/cloning canon storywise? Of course not! Again, I'll compare with fighting game. Some endings in a fighting game are not canon, but rather "what if" scenarios... they didn't actually happen, storyline wise, but they are there. This will be the same. Don't worry... the actual, canonical storyline will not be changed.

Get off it Benoit. You never talked to the general everytime you got a party member in the original PS 2 anyways.

So? That's exactly what I said.

So therefore you will not accidentally "Revive" nei with this so-called glitch.
The majority of gamers will never realize NEi can be revived or care to.
But no.. Just because you can revive Nei just like in the original, Benoit has to bitch.
He can't bitch about the original game because it's a supposed "Glitch" Which is 1000 times easier to do than this new method.
Why can't this new method be a "Glitch" as well?
Double standards.
[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1115170563[/TIME]]

Benoit just don't do it, we understand you don't like it but guess what, right now no one really agrees with you, sure if it was something like a side quest or someting to revive her that would be one thing, however this is just something extra just to have fun with, again if you don't like it don't do just stop complaining about it, do you really think your going to change anything or do you think we even care?

And it also happens in some RPG, for example the alternative paths in Der Langrisser and Langrisser 4.

[Edit by Synbios on [TIME]1115178816[/TIME]]
