The new book is only 8 pages? It better be a good comic! :)

*hugs back!* Welcome! ^^ I saw it, so I thought this should be shared. :D

And...I have no idea. I haven't sent him any PMs about it, but that's a good idea!

*EDIT*: I just now PMed him. :)

Well, it only costs 100 yen. I'm sure it's not that much. :3

100 yen is cheap indeed! It's just... 10 years after a book that had 124 pages, it's a little disappointing to see just 8 pages in the next one.

In a long chain of events, I uploaded the comic to Photobucket, which was scanned by H-Man, which was given to him by tilinelson2.

Wing-0 paraphrased the comic during our usual shotbox convo, which I copied as well to add with the uploaded scans.

Page 1

Page 2

Wing-0: "[Adan]'s stressed because he's been stuck TEN YEARS with the other three guys and [Crys] tells him "Food's ready, Mothercon". That expression is a VERY pejorative way of calling someone "Mama's Boy". Sean is bitching because they're going to eat Rappy... AGAIN... He's asking if Aron can't cook something else, to which he replied "Bleh... I'm lazy...""

Page 3

Wing-0: "Then Adan begins bitching at Crys for looking sloppy and he just replied "I'm comfortable like this." Enter an uptight rant of Adan and Sean begins thinking about how annoying he is. Aron then tells them that they just have to wait, that Wren's going to show up and blah, can't read the fucking kanji, to which Sean replies that he's an idiot and that Wren's not coming and gets asked how does he know that."

Page 4

Wing-0: "Then Aron begins telling Adan that since they were once in the same man's balls, then they are brothers, which enrages Adan who beats his "testicle brother"... Adan, now a neurotic prince (more like weary of the other three) screams "I'M TELLING YOU I HATE YOU!!!" Then they begin to think about their fathers and wonder what happened to them and the women in their teams."

Page 5

Wing-0: "Meanwhile, in the underground temple of Laya... The heroines are relaxing at a spa... Laya (3rd, AKA Gwyn) asks what to do next and Kara P suggests a "Face Up", which I think is a facial not related to bukkake... a NORMAL FACIAL... I can't get Laya's exact words, but Gwyn's wondering how her mother is super hot and has huge boobage... I think we have a princess with issues here. The final panel ends with several words from the separated cast... Someone says that the Rappy is tasty (Aron I suppose), Another says he wants to take a bath (Adan, I'm sure), someone is laughing and I'm assuming it's Sean who seems to be developing some sort of mental issue... or... at least that's what the "wwwwww" sound to me. They're used in Japanese internet slang to refer to laughter. It comes from "Warau", which is "to laugh"."

Wow, great scans! Thank you for sharing them, Tanith! ^^

@Benoit: So were my images in the original post unacceptable? I know they were a tad large...

It is kinda easy to understand why it took them so long to publish the new "book" and why it has only eight pages. There are many people dying to read it, but how many books did they sell among the western PS fans? 2?

Maybe more, but considering a PSIII book is a very niche thing and, from all the people who still care about it in the west, no one buys it, the amount of sales must not be enough to keep them writing new books/stories continuously.

I challenge your claim that few people bought the previous book. It has long been available through The Phantasy Star III HP. It's not our fault that after that it was obscure.

It is still available to buy, and you can still buy it if you want. So I think it was not a success as well, considering the current print was made in 2002. I've bought four copies of that book, but apart from the two persons I've bought the book for and myself, I don't know any other fan who owns it.

We know it is, but lots of others don't as it's in a very obscure place that Toyo Ozaki isn't advertising to foreigners who can't read Japanese.

I'd at the very least expect you to know that WING-0 bought it. As a long-time regular of the community, I know of at least three more people who bought it.

Wow, that surely accounts for 90% of the fans, doesn't it?

If most people who are fans don't care about buying the books, I don't see how Ozaki and Segawa can bother writing large books for no one.

The new comic costs $1 and people still say "it better be a good book...", but I know most will never bother buying, even it was the best thing on earth. Especially when it is scanned and put on internet. It is not the support the artists deserve.

Toyo Ozaki had scans of the comic pages of her first book with English translations on her PSIII Homepage, and it took years for scans of the rest of the book to surface, so don't accuse us of doing the artists a disservice.

The only one that made your quoted comment is me, and that's because regardless of the price 6 pages is very little. Especially when I'm not going to be able to read it in the first place.

I restate that buying the book isn't made easy. It's in an obscure place with Japanese we can't read, and not all of us own a credit card. Hell, maybe there are other methods of payment that are easier for some of us, but I can't tell because everything is in Japanese. Sure, there are translation sites, but those are a pain in the ass and an extra barrier to actually buying the thing.

For comparison, if it was available in my local store I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
