I won't say anything about PS I II III, I agree with nearly all of you.
On PSIV thought something that has not been said is I would make the story a little bit more harsh, for the party to be troubled a little bit more (not in the game systeme).
I mean yes Zio is in the story a big probleme for you: you almost can't touch him he has lot of people believing in him, he killed one of Alys etc.... but after the story tend to be too simple I think....
problems are imediatly solved and you don't feel like the party is in a real danger (unlike PSII when evreybody hates you, you are chased by the police...)

Nothing to do with being lazy.
Besides, I may be alone, but the 3D dungeons gave me a headache, PSI and Sword of Vermillion were enough to last me a lifetime...
-Corey

[Edit by PSP on [TIME]1110663489[/TIME]]

I apologise for being an ass there with my argument, PSP.
I just personally like the 3D dungeon element from the original to carry on to the rest of the games, because I feel that having this element is what the entire PS series should've been like.

Personally I really don't like the '3d' dungeons of the first game; I despise that kind of pseudo-3d first person tile-based 90-degree-turns dungeon crawling... While PS made it more bearable with actual animations instead of just kinda 'chunking' along tile by tile and confusing the hell out of you when you turned (the turning animations in PS made this MUCH more bearable), I still think that kind of dungeon is just... incredibly boring, repetative, and just not much fun at all.
Of course I realize that's just my opinion, and there are many fans of that system... but personally I'm rather glad they stuck to overhead dungeons for the rest of the series.
Oh, and, I know it'd be extremely tedious to do, but an option to switch between first-person and overhead would be very cool. (tedious because they'd need two maps for each map... or... maybe they wouldn't, actually, if the '3d' system is actually tile-based, which I think it technically is)
And even though I haven't beaten psII yet, from what I've seen so far I think the dungeons could be less monotonous and maze-like too... But then again I know there's many people who enjoy the mazey aspect. :p

I personally liked the overhead dungeons just a little bit more; particularly the ones in PS4. The biggest gripe I have with 3D dungeons is that repetition is very quick to barge in, unless the artists spend tons of time on textures.

Besides, can you imagine the more difficult PSII dungeons in 3D? Yikes... ;p
-Corey

I agree about the 3d dungeons being horriblly repetitve, but on the flip side, the layout of those mazes were all pretty simple. The only dungeons that were truly difficult to navigate were Baya Malay, and the maze on the island where you find the laconian sword.

I found the Island tower quite easy actually. I needed help in Medusa´s tower, though.

I didn't use FAQs or walkthroughs for PSI. I drew my own maps... sadly, I think I lost them all.

PSI- No changes. It is a classic.
PSII- I love this game, but my changes would be:
o Add more dialogue for character interaction and development. And more cutscenes. And maybe some love interest for Rolf...
o Change the boss fight music. It is good, but the boss music for Neifirst should stay the same, but it should be changed for the other fights so that each fight has different music.
PSIII- I like this, but it is far to linear for me. Change the dialogue and what the NPCs say to make it seem less linear. And return the combat style to the PSI version. I'd also change the music because I don't particularly like it.
PSIV- I've not played this so I'm not sure.

PSI - no changes, except for the profile of Alis. She looks too old.
PSII - I love this game, but I'm going to nitpick here. So, first would be the BIG ANNOYING RED FLASHES when you get hit in battle, and the grid made into a background suiting the respective dungeon. Also, faster paced battles. The actions are too slow. More dialogue between the characters.
PSIII - SEEING the characters fight. Dialogue. Cut scenes. And the characters walking faster.
PSIV - Better designed sprites. Game made longer. Harder boss fights.

Malakai, I'd have to disagree with you on the PSII front.
Well, partially.
I agree with the flashes. Get rid of them.
However, I love the cute grid background. They even copied the idea for PSO Ep3!
Actually, that's the only thing I disagree on. I, too, love this game. It is my overall favourite.

Well, you know the old saying how you are more critical of someone/thing you love more. That's why I nitpick on PSII anyway.
Now Lietz, would you like to say something? Don't be afraid to use the keyboard.
EDIT: never mind, you wrote something. But maps? Come on, getting lost is half the fun in RPGs!

[Edit by Malakai on [TIME]1110901165[/TIME]]
