Musk Cats are native to Palma, when the miners move to Dezo to mine the laconian, they brought their pets with them.
According to the compendium, after PS 1, Myau helping Alis, People began to love musk cats.
Myau was a mutation, normal Musk kitties couldn't talk to humans. Myau learned human speech as a result of a mutation when he was born.
When the miners had to leave Dezo prior to PS 2, they left the musk cats behind.
Later on they make their own community in myst vale.
According to Nei's adventure, Nei/Nei-First had musk cat DNA.

[Edit by Lord Khyron on [TIME]1116989537[/TIME]]

Myau being a mutation was only purely conjecture. He could also have been very intelligent.

Of course they are intelligent. When you talk to them, they are all capable of saying intelligible sentences denoting organized and rational thoughts. Myau was no exception. He/she/it/shemale was just more powerful than the ordinary musk cats.
Now, onto the origin of Musk Cats. Just occurred to me that the Great Light created the Algol Star System to seal the Profound Darkness Away, and that it placed on each planet a sentient race to protect the seal everytime it got in danger: palmans in Palma, motavians in Motavia, and dezorians in Dezoris.
Now, what about Rykross? Those spiritual beings are echoes of the Great Light, but they couldn´t do much on a fight against Dark Force, it seems (otherwise, they would be there in every millenium to silently remove that menace from Algol). They were there most likely to keep the planet alive and serve as an invisible signal that something is going wrong.
And, after mentioning the 4th planet of the system with no apparent sentient race of potential protectors, we also have the 4th sentient race of potential protectors with no determined planet of origin. If the Great Light was something to to make sense with its actions, it would place the 4th race on the 4th planet, no? They probably got first in Palma when the spiritual beings visited the planet 4000 years prior to PS1 and gave telemental powers to a small group of people, creating the Espers, and the Musk Cats stayed there. Because they couldn´t get out of Rykross, and as the planet is invisible, no palmans would seek their help.
And we have Musk Cats fighting in all games (besides PS3, which is focused on palmans only) through Nei and Rika.
It is true! And you can´t prove it wrong! :^P

2,000,000 Years Ago - The war is settled. As a result of the victorious side sealing the defeated side away, one fixed star and four planets are created, "Protectors of the Seal" are made on the four planets, and one kind of sentient life form is allocated to each.
300,000 Years Ago - The entire race of victors is wiped out. Except on the fourth planet, Ryucross, the beings of the other three planets, with the passing of each successive generation, begin to forget the mission of those made Protectors. Meanwhile, in their inter-dimensional prison, the sealed-away spirit-life forms transform into a wicked being, the accumulation of spirits of hatred and vengeance, and, at its core, a profound darkness is formed.
Ryucross (IV)
The fourth planet of the Algol Solar System. It is said to make only one revolution every 1,000 years, and it has a long, elliptical orbit. One cannot find it without the aforementioned Aeroprism, and no person alive knows where it is. When the seal on the Profound Darkness weakens every 1,000 years, it draws near the other three planets, its duty to warn of what's to come. The planet's guardian is the inheritor of the Great Light's will, a life form by the name of Le Roof [the "Le" pronounced like the word "lay", not like the French article "le". So, Le Roof is to the Great Light what Rune is to Lutz...? The parallel is intentional - the same phrase, "ishi o uketsugu" (to succeed to/inherit

Apparently Rykruss was for guardianships and warning, But no one had the technology or location of it until PS IV, nor the ability to get there. Apparently It wasn't needed until IV.
I think Re-Faze and co are the sentient life on Rykruss. There are prolly more beings like that.

i don't think anything could survive on ryrkros except for spiritual beings- it's a planet made entirely of pretty green and pink rocks, there's no water and it has the most powerful monsters in the game. it always seemed to me to be more like a huge information point and item storage room.

Not to mention that anything with an orbit period of 1000 years is going to be REALLY cold for most of its 'year'. >_>;
...And if the Great Light made any sense the Dezolians would live on Motavia and the Motavians would live on Dezolis. >_>

Theoretically..
With Palma and Mota switching orbits.. You go from there.
Animals live with fur in the desserts on Earth o.o
How the hell is that any different than motavians on Mota?
Many winter creatures don't have fur also.

Polar bears have fur, penguins have feathers, seals have fur, foxes have fur... What, exactly, are these arctic/antarctic creatures that are running around bald? O_o
And yes, plenty of furry things in deserts... Which usually have big ears(Looked at a Fennec/Sand Fox lately? XD), or some other body-size adaption to their habitat... Or spend all day hiding in the shade and are nocturnal.
The sizes are also the opposite of what one would think of as making sense. Motavians seem to be somewhere around average human height, which is reasonable enough, though you'd think that, as with humans living closer to the equator, they'd have a larger bodysize to provide a larger body area for heat to evaporate from. Also, I can't imagine dark blue fur/feathers as being that condusive to reflecting heat, either - You'd think it would be white, or tan, or some other light colour. They're also rather squat for desert creatures.
The Dezolians on the other hand, seem to be rather tall. Now, looking again at humans and animals who live in the arctic their entire lives(Dezolis doesn't seem like the kind of place where it's ever summer/warm)... Well, the humans are short and squat and tend to build up fat as a warming mechanism. Animals living up there have thick fur, thick layers of blubber/fat, a generally smaller bodysize... The Dezolians seem to at least make some sense in that they don't have much in the way of facial features - The human nose, for example, is rather inconvenient in cold weather, sticking out like that and getting itself frozen. XP
But yeah, the Motavians and Dezolians just always seem to me like they're living on the wrong planets. >_>;

Picture for a moment that they would live on their so-called 'correct' planet.
Would it be interesting or fantasy at all?
Nah.
