A: I've been reading and roaming this site for quite some time. And I don't think I've seen this theory pop up yet, so I'll share my theory with you all:
Since there's talk about alternate dimensions already in the accepted canon of the original series, why not just use the explanation that neither of the Phantasy Star III generations was part of the original series, but just four of an infinite number of paths that could have taken course. In other words it can all be perfectly explained through the "Many-Worlds Interpretation" of parallel dimensions (or a multiverse). Specifically, the theory of "Many-Worlds Interpretations" dictates that anything that could happen, will happen and take it's course through it's own path and individual Universe. This is not the same as the multi(buble)verse, but at least within one of the bubbles (the one Universe in which we live), many alternate histories have taken course through such interpretation.
Here's a little wiki if you're interested on the subject:

BTW, this will also perfectly explain all the alternate universes beyond parts I-IV (in other words, from Phantasy Star Online on the DC until today). Any takers?
Q: Would Dark Force not have been a problem in Phantasy Star III had he not been liberated from the sword of Orakio?
