I remember back whan I originally played the game on my old trusty genesis/mega drive, I menaged to get my party to Lv 50, leveling in the Noah dungeon, and it took weeks, for only 4 characters! And it was Noah's monsters, and I constantly used Megid! Well, leveling at climatrol 'till level 50 with all is a great feat. But I don't think that you brother in law did it legitimatly, here's why: after Rolf and Nei get to Lv 50 you probably have another 2 characters in you party, and you must level to lv 50 another two times, and exp earned max out at 9.999.999. And in the screenshot Rolf hasn't maxed out his experience. It's very likely that an hex editor were used, after all you have to find where exp is stored (in a savestate, not a savegame) and substitute the value with 98967F, the go for a fight and after you win, voila! 49 levels with a single battle!
Well, or maybe he killed Rolf and Nei and has gone with only two characters to level. Please explain!
[Edit by Goldark on [TIME]1082367059[/TIME]]

I assure you, my brother-in-law is not clever enough to use a hex editor. Heh...
But he did let Rolf and Nei die so he could level only one character at a time. It's worth noting that his game save also has over 37 million meseta after all of that leveling. Quite specifically though, he used Blastoids to level-- He figured out that they were easier to deal with than Slugmesses and gave considerably more experience in addition to having the ability to reproduce themselves. By keeping 1 Blastoid in battle at all times, he was able to rack up roughly 65,000 EXP in every battle with them. We also discovered that the maximum possible amount of EXP you can get in a single battle is 65,535. After achieving that mark, it resets back to 0... Still, that made leveling up pretty darned quick.
But again, like I said, no cheats were used. It was very much accomplished by legitimate means.
