Phantasy Star Generation 1 Walkthrough - Part 5: The Perseus Shield

Getting here, first go to the Item Shop and buy the Motavian Ring for 4000 Meseta. It will be necessary to talk to the motavians at Sopia later. Also buy a Ruoginin, if you don't have one. Ruoginin? But what for? You'll know soon. At the weapon shop, all the items are worth buying. After shopping, go to the house in the lower left part of the town. Actually it's some kind of tunnel. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

Drasgow Dungeon

There are two treasure chests that are worth getting here. At point 3 you'll find the guy who sells the gas mask (but you'll find his twins on the way). And don't think there are no monsters around here, because there are! Reaching point number 3, the man will say the mask costs 72000 meseta. Myau think it's outrageous and the man even says that four masks would be 288000 meseta! Talk to him again and he will ask for a Ruoginin (got it now?). Talk to him again to give the Ruoginin. Talk to him AGAIN and he'll agree to sell all the four masks for 7200 meseta. Answer "yes" (はい) to pay 7200 meseta and receive it. Then use the Soothing Flute (スーズフルート) to leave. Use Alis' Teleport (トルーパ) to go to Gothic (ガシコの村) and go back to Uzo (ウーゾの村) on Motavia. Arriving there, use Teleport again to go to Paseo (首都パセオ). Leave Paseo and head west until the sea. Press R1 to use the Hovercraft (how do they manage to carry such a huge vehicle with them?) and keep going west until you find an island, but don't disembark on it. Keep heading west and you'll see solid ground again in a terrain with a purple gas coming out. In the middle of that terrain is Sopia village, but since we have the gas mask, we can cross it peacefully. If you want, please consult the map available here at PS Cave.

You can buy a lot of great items here, but before you do anything, talk to the townspeople. Here in Sopia, a lot of motavians talk about Lutz's master, Tajim. Then go to the house in the middle of the upper part of the town and talk to the motavian who lives there. He's an informer, but he will charge you 2000 meseta for the information and you need to pay, so answer "yes" (はい). You'll need to talk to him again so he can give you more information, and this time he will charge you 3000 meseta. The worst thing is that we need to talk him a third time and pay 5000 meseta more. But unfortunately that's absolutely necessary. Now you can go shopping with the money that's left. :D

However, all the items from the item shop are very expensive. The Saber Claw is not worth it for Myau because the Iron Claw is better. Great Axe and Zirconium Mail are too expensive. I think it's better to just buy the Elegant Fur for Myau and leave the other two items to buy later (if you still need by then). That's what I did, at least. Now leave Sopia. Remember that island we ignored before reaching Sopia? Now we must go there. Examine the cactus to the right of the Ant Lion and you'll find the Perseus Shield (ペルセウスの盾). Equip it on Odin. After taking the shield, you must use the consult function (L1) a few times. Myau will say that Lutz has been a little weird and at first he will beat around the bush. Keep using L1 a few more times. Lutz will say that this is his problem and eventually Odin will say that they're all friends, so if Lutz has a problem, that problem is theirs too. Lutz will be thankful and give the Tajim Key to Alis. This key opens the door of the cave where we'll find Tajim, Lutz's master, and that's where we must go now. Go back to Sopia and go south. Use the Hovercraft and keep going south. When you reach solid ground, walk a little to the west and then south. You'll eventually find the cave. I should've mentioned this before, but... Whenever you're training to level up, here is a good hint. At level 22 Myau learns the magic spell Ra-Heal (ラヒール), which recovers 100 HP for everyone and it consumes just 42 MP. Then whenever Lutz's MP is running out and you need to go to a hospital to heal yourself, use the magic spell from before as long as it's necessary to heal your party. This way you spend less money at the hospital. After all, if everyone already lost 100 HP and Myau can recover 100 HP for everyone with 42 MP, it's cheaper to pay 42 meseta to recover Myau's MP than to spend 400 meseta to recover everyone's HP. :D
