I can confirm that this is the same text as at http://page.freett.com/naknak/game/ps/k ... /m061.html , to which a tentative translation has been provided in this thread. There are some possible clues to punctuation that might have been omitted in the screens, however.

I've transcribed the text below, for easier tackling by a translator willing to give it a try (a somewhat improved translation is interspersed below, please see the thread linked to above for notes, however):

NO GOOD! Now I'm even more confused than I was when I started... 1,000 years ago, Orakio and Laya were killed by Dark Force... HOWEVER

2000ねんまえ
えいゆう オハリオと アイナが
2000 years ago,
the heroes Ohario and Aina

Our theory was that it said 2,000 years ago they LEFT Palma, now, 2000 years ago was this??? WHEN THE HELL DID YOU PEOPLE LEAVE PALMA!?

To me it seems that Ohario and Aina were contemporary to Rolf and co. That is what the compendium says, and what is rumoured to be mentioned in the Ages remake of PS2, according to the the Japanese Wikipedia article on PS3.

Besides, it doesn't say they were killed, just defeated. Though I have nothing but anecdotal evidence and hunches to support it, my theory on that matter is that they were not killed, but were instrumental in organising the evacuation, and eventually ended up on Alisa III (with that name, it is reasonable to assume that it is one of the more important ships, and since they were leaders of the resistance, it would be logical for them to be on that one). They were both of the Sa Riik family, it said somewhere, and also by blood related to Lassic and thus to the Landales. I think that Orakio and Laya are both their descendants -- Laya of Aina, and Orakio of Ohario (or both of both, in case they started a family together).

I don't see nearly enough evidence to back up your theory, but I seriously like it, big time... It makes a lot of sense, and since there is NO information being said of the two, this could be quite possible... I wonder if Aina was a Esper of some sort, as all Layan people are gifted in magic... I also wonder, they said that the lands were wiped clean in the intro of PS3... Perhaps ALL layans are within Aina's family tree, and ALL orakians are within Ohario... I doubt they would had made love (or whatever you guys call it, I call it making love, cause I'm in love) because then, everyone would have a mixture of power, AND magic, like any forth generation character, where even if just a TOUCH of Layan is in them, they have magic, and if even a TOUCH of Orakian is in them, they can use "hero equipment".

NICE theory, I seriously like it, man.

edit: Forth Generation? Bed time for me... *Third Generation

To me, this looks like Ohario and Aina were fighting their own battle on Palma at the time Rolf & co. were doing pretty much the same on Motavia.
Ohario and Aina lived 2000 years before the events of PSIII.
This would mean that the events of PSIII happened 1000 years after PSIV.

I don't see any such reference in the Japanese wiki article, nor do I remember such a reference in the remake itself. Can you give me more details on this?

Er... All the details are right there in the translation... It's why me an sky went through all the trouble of getting the information. I got that far playin the Japanese rom, and Sky translated it... Read it all, it's the ONLY information about this the original Japanese rom provided...

Thas right, we got more info than the Wiki... Wiki isn't a Phantasy Starologist!

Absolutely! Here is a link directly to the footnote mentioning it:

What do you make of that?

I wasn't questioning your information, which is clearly supported by screenshots, I was questioning the mention of Ohario or Aina in PSG:2.

Ahh, the footnote. I just saw that it mentioned "ファンタシースターII 還らざる時の終わりに" instead of "ファンタシースター generation:2" and figured it was some reference to continuity between the original games. My fault for not reading more closely.

That's interesting though. I don't remember seeing a mention of Ohario in the remake or anyone making a mention of it in the fan community (since some of the people I knew were quite pissed that PSIII was being excluded from the AGES project from the onset, I'm sure one of them would have chimed in at the fan service such a mention would provide), though it's been about 5 years since I played through. Maybe it's time for another play through (I still need to revive Nei anyway)...
