OK, after making my last post I started playing PSG2.

Just now I got the freeze problem. But this time I was using my 'USB Advance' CD to launch the game from a USB Thumb stick.

So now I've seen the freeze problem without using PSG2 burned to CD.

Could it still be an ISO problem? I am using a CD (USB Advance).
But I can see the USB Thumb stick light blinking whenever loading is happening so aside from launching the game I don't think the USB Advance CD is being accessed by the PS2.

What is weird is that the new version I posted should have the iso created properly (use the PS2-spec and also respect the original LBA orders) and someone said it still freezing so I don't really understand why it happen (especially when I never got any freeze with uLauncherElf).

Another thing which is weird is "those random crashs aren't so random". For me, a "real" random crash is a crash which can happen anywhere. But from the reports it only seems to happen after a battle, on the battle results screen.

Does someone got a crash elsewhere?

If someone is able to do it, could someone try to run the last version I posted on a PS2, using uLauncherELF and an USB-Key to run the game? (to check if the crashs are still present with this method, as I never got any personally. I never really grinded the game but I guess I should at least have got one crash and they were some).

Thank you Blaw! I already joined it to my last post.

Edit - Also I need one that isnt hacked or maxed out

Runehasa- I have a backup save that isn't maxed or hacked... It is an OPL virtual memory card savefile from when I resurrected Nei using this translated version. It has save files including the original 0: 0: 0 clear data, also an immediately before Neifirst encounter save, and an immediately after Neifirst defeat save. I can also include the CFG file to match the VMC so you don't have to manually reconfigure any settings. However, when I tried to upload it here for you I received the message "The extension bin is not allowed." Someone please let me know how to proceed with this?

That sounds like exactly what I am looking for. I would really be thankful if you could send that to me. You can Try uploading it to my google drive. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing or if not you can likely zip it and email it to me at Runehasa@gmail.com

It's already there so enjoy!
Save files included...
original 0: 0: 0 clear data from beating the game,
also an immediately before Neifirst encounter save,
and an immediately after Neifirst defeat save with Nei resurrected.
Check my post on the previous page for the attachment.

Game Complete-Characters Maxed--to see the game ending, head north into the Governor's mansion and select HAI. This save data is also valid for Generation 2, allowing you to ressurect Nei upon her death - http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/915128-sega ... ion1/saves

So you mean converting the game to the DVD format prevent the game from crashing?

Would be pretty weird but well, if it's working.

If people who had crashs could try the DVD version and give their reports.

I have tried the DVD version and it loads and plays but again I got the freeze after combat.

I've experienced this freeze when playing on my modded PS2 from CD, DVD and USB. It's a shame cause I'm really enjoying the game.

For people experiencing crashs, I would personally advice to play on PCSX2 (I can assure the 1.0.0 version of emulator won't give any crash).

I have two computers and it still run fine (fullspeed) on my old computer (Core2Duo 2.66 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, GT9800) so it should work fine on most computer nowadays as the computer I have is 8 years old.

I also think recent laptop using a Nvidia GPU should be able to run the emulator without any problems.

It would also be interesting to know if the PS3 version have the same problem, or not.

It doesn't mean we won't try to find and fix the problem but meanwhile, I guess this is the best solution.

And yeah, as Tryphon talked about it before, I guess the best would be to him to open a thread on romhacking.net board and ask for advices about iso creation to check if this is the problem.

I haven't had any crashes on pcsx2 and I use pcsx2-v1.3.1-1218. I have played from start to finish.

Is there someone on Earth, except Hiei-, who managed to play the game without crash on a vanilla PS2 ?

Also, for those who encountered crashes, could you give your BIOS version ?

If I have to play using emulation I'll do that. But I'd much prefer to play it on my PS2. For now I'm happy to wait and see if the scene can figure this out. I'm also happy to do testing on the PS2 if that would help.

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts and input!

I feel blessed by gods :D

Someone here said he had a lot less crashs with another PS2, which a different serial number, which is pretty weird but which might explain some things, as I used a slim one to play it (personally, I played the french version but some peoples also had crash with it, so it should also be the same with the english version, especially as the hack is the same and especially if people still got crash with the english version with the version I posted, which was created exactly like the french version).
