I really wish I had time to start that emulator thread, but I've been swamped with work and school and what little time I've had to do it, I forget the project and end up here, lamenting my memory ability.

I made an interesting observation while proof-reading the French translation. Almost (if not) all NPCs' names are jewish and more precisely from the Bible.

And Yusis is more or less an anagram of Iesus.

That, more the fact the the ultimate technique is called Megiddo (shortened in Megid).

While I'm at it : there's a NPC named Begin (in romaji, knowing that the b could be a v). I can't see a name (hebraic or anything) sounding like that. Do someone have an idea ?

Any news on how things are going, I know Kyence is having IRL issues but I was wondering if anyone else is working on it?

I'm working on it. I have no idea where Kyence is on her end. I asked if I could be involved a while ago, and she said yes. All I know is I got a file from her, and she basically said, "Have at it!" :)

I thought I'd get through it a lot quicker than I would, but RL has gotten in the way. This week I'm hoping there'll be more downtime at work to allow me to finish my file. It'll need polishing, because I feel like I'm flying blind, not knowing the context of where my part of the translation starts, but I hope to have my file finished this week. Just know I'm doing the best I can, and I'm sure Kyence, and I believe one other person, are too! :)

Just registered to say thank you to everyone involved for their continued hard work on this project. I really can't wait to play it in English.

You are all the best.

Thanks! I just hope I do a good job, especially as not only is this my first game localisation, it's also fricking Phantasy Star, and I wanna get it right.

Some good news, I had more downtime at work than I thought I would, today and the text was a lot easier than I expected, as it was very easy to understand and a lot of it repeated, or was a variation on the same thing. So I went from around 45% done to about 95%!

I still need feedback from someone (I assume Kyence) who knows the game better than I to check what I've done. I'm not very confident about certain lines due to the lack of context, but otherwise, I'm pretty confident with what I've got so far.

I don't mind looking through it for you. I'm very familiar with Phantasy Star 2 and any information I don't have, I'm sure I could look up.

It might not be ideal, but between that and the resources you currently have, I'm sure it could be useful.

Thanks for the offer. I'll take it under advisement, though :) Kyence is the boss, and I wouldn't want to step on her toes by releasing parts of the text without hearing her out first.

I only really meant that I wasn't sure what Kyence wanted me to do, so I just took a stab at it in my own way, rather than a cry for help :D Sorry for the confusion!

I also meant my post as a bone to those waiting for an update on how things are going. I can't say how Kyence is doing, but I can say how I'm progressing, right? :)

BTW, Kyence was very positive about my work, which was a huge relief to me.

I'll let you know more when I have more to say! :)

Actually, outside of being a spell/grammar check and verifying term usage (because you know, no matter what happens, someone is going to find something to complain about with the terminology of the Phantasy Star series), there isn't a whole lot more I could offer. Like I said, I'm familiar with the terminology to make sure it's being used and spelled properly, but outside of that and being a live spell/grammar check, that's about as much use as I have to offer.

Hi I was just wondering if there a status update to this project as I havent seen a post in a very long time. Phantasy Star 2-4 are some of my favorite games of all time and have played them multiple times. The translation for PS1 was awesome and i really enjoyed it. I have been holding my breath for awhile now waiting for the translation to PS2. Any update would be great!

The French version is imminent.

Concerning the English version, I don't know.

Hi,

I just wanted to offer some encouragement and say thank you for all your work. I look forward to playing this remake of such a great game. The English translation for Phantasy Star Generation 1 was fantastic.

I love Phantasy Star,II,III, and IV as a teenager. I have played through the english translation for PS and I enjoyed it so much. Thank you to those who made that possible and to those who are working on this translation for PSII!

I want to give you solace if you feel discouraged over putting a lot of time into this: I personaly put 3500+ hours into a full HD retexture of Castlevania Legacy of Darkness for the N64, for free.. with never anything in return...

So I hope you at least find encouragement in my work to continue or finish your project of translating PSII!!!

For the hell of it:
Nice pics between page 7 to 11, and a nice description near the top of page 7 about why C64 sucks vs CLOD: http://www.emutalk.net/threads/43535-Ca ... -WIP/page7
Nice pics start up again around page 18: http://www.emutalk.net/threads/43535-Ca ... WIP/page18
Keep in mind these are only 256 color GIF's:

If you read the newest posts you'll see I just tried to revive that project but a slow start pushed me to other more popular "issues/projects".

I'm sure there's still hope if more people provide support, for the both of us..

Good luck and best wishes,
Jay

Yup, french version is near completion, though I understand it won't interest much people here ^^

Just waiting to receive the final tools then I'll start the beta-test on my PS2 (beta-test which will also be useful for the english version as we'll see if there are any bugs left that prevent the game to work on the real hardware. There shouldn't be any bugs left anyway, as it was already heavily tested at the beginning of the project, by doing more than twenty versions of the SLPM file to get rid of all the bugs :D ).

That's great, Blaw!

In other news, I have resumed work for about two weeks now. It's good to slowly resume my life before my health issue. I will have to slowly get back into translating, and I have two people helping out on it, but as soon as I can, I want to get back into translating this. Thank you for everyone wishing me well. It was really nice to see it after being unable to even read text or look at a computer screen for almost two months before finally starting to improve. I have seen people get nasty when someone has a real life issue that takes them away from an online project, but you are all first-class people, and, silly as it sounds, were part of the motivation for me to get better. I'm going to finish this, not just for me, but for all of you. It may take me longer than expected, but with the extra teamwork I have now along with Tryphon and Blaw working hard on the French version, it will get done.

Thanks everyone! :D
