Good work! Based on the likeness of the text from the script-site and your screens I think we could probably take the Aron-text from there, in case you want to be "done with this Japanese gibberish"... ;)

Word. Well, now we make a timeline! I'll have one before I get off work, unless someone beats me to it, now that we KNOW what's up.

I don't consider PSIII canon as it's more of a gaiden than a sequel to the series.

It actually goes like this: PS1 > PS2 and finally PS4.

The main antagonist is dead for good in the fourth and final game.

True. You actually get all the highlight if you play PSI, PSII and PSIV.
And I too consider PSIII as a side story, but rather interesting one.
I am NaN!

It'd appear PS3 ties in the ending of PS2 though... While it didn't stick much to Algo, it does explain how the Earth people obtained "Noah", and explains what truly happened to Palma, which is just recently being discovered thanks to the Japanese Rom, and Sky's translation method.

All released Phantasy Star games are canon, whether you like it or not.

Both PSIII and PSIV are sequels to PSII. You can't call PSIII a side story because if PSIV never existed, it'd be the proper sequel to PSII instead of a non-important side game.
Get Xenoblade Chronicles!

PSIV was orginally going to continue the ship voyage crap. Instead the original team decided to revise the story by concluding the series with IV since they ran out of ideas. III was an unfinished project anyway.

Blame him for ruining a psV possibility.

Personally I like the fact that we have a contained story. =)

Yuji Naka has absolutely nothing to do with there not being a Phantasy Star V.

He said once the current PS gameplay was boring and wished to revamp it. This was from something I've read ages back.

Still, he had the option to continue the saga and he didn't. The fans care more about the series than Kodama and the like does anyway. Well, she does hate pso type games.

Perhaps it would be an idea to move the discussion of PSIII's canonicity and the non-existance of PSV to another thread, before this turns ugly..?

I would love to go back in time and see how a discussion about PSIII and the series continuity would be like in 1993.
SEGA owes me money!

I'd love to win a million dollars, and flip it into five million selling crack, and various other drugs, but... yeah, not gonna happen.
