Laconian Dagger (PS2)

Postby Zucca » Mon Sep 01, 2008 4:40 pm

Genesis PS2 has quite strange statistics for Laconian Dagger.
While normal knife has attack bonus of 5, Laconian Dagger has 4.
Sad, since it would have been quite good weapon for Shir.
Currently I'm having Shir equipped with Truth sleeves and Mirror emel. She's using Storm Gear (GiZan to all enemy groups, not just one group) in battles to attack.
I have strong feeling that there's a case of "missing zero" in the statistics of Laconian Dagger.
Does anyone know if any other versions of PS2 have this same occurrence (Japan version, PS Generaion 2)?

Yeah, it always seemed strange to me that the Laconian Knife was weaker than the Laser Knife. It probably doesn't mean anything, but I played the PAL version.
Get Xenoblade Chronicles!

Yup. (I was previously talking about Laconian knife when I should have talked about Laconian dagger)
I think it's an typing error in the code. Here's some statistics:

Code: Select all
Weapon              | Attack | Defence
Knife               |    5   |     0
Dagger              |    8   |     1
Laser Knife         |   28   |     5
Laconian Dagger     |    4   |    22

Does not make any sense. No other weapon has that low attack bonus.

Apparently it's fixed in the Playstation 2 remake. While the other weapons in that table have the same stats, the Laconian Dagger has 45 attack and 7 defense.

Even if the attack and defense were reversed (to look like a normal knife) it would still be a weaker weapon.

Subsequently... did they release the PS1/2 remakes for the US after all?

I quess not. ;( I would have bought Playstation 2 then. Like I bought Sega Saturn for PS Collection. :P And yet, I don't have that game. I mainly wanted it because of improved musics and graphics.
But I watched some YouTube videos of PS Gen. 2 and I wasn't impressed by the musics. Do they have to add Xylophone to _every_ music? At least it sounds like it. *cling clong* Feels like the musics were made for five years old or younger. I wonder if it is same with Saturn PS Collection. And how about GBA version?

I have to agree with Zucca. I was embarassed to play it with the sound up. My sister once actually asked if I was playing and EC (Early Childhood) rated game.
I wonder what people will see in the final days?

Aw, don't be so hard on yourself. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it's bad. It just means it's not the type of music I enjoy... then again, I don't like a lot of the music in PS2 to begin with... except the fights. To be truthful, I found PS3 to have the best overworld music. It actually built up after every character that joined!

PS3 is cool with how it does that. xP

... I still need to finish it. I'm on to Sean now... first play through.

I beat it and cried because the ending is the same with ALL the characters, mroe or less. I found myself screaming at the game because they're all the same lol.
