It's waaayyyyyy safer then IE and on my PC is more stable than Mozilla Suite.
Mozilla is much heavier anyway.

Only on your PC, SheWren.
We both know your PC is weird. ;)

why are the experts in PC stores always recommending using Firefox as a web browser? I keep hearing a lot of praise about Firefox from the tech guys when I go to PC World with my dad

Because FireFox is stand-alone and is an easier transfer when coming from IE. Something like that.

Because Windows 95 doesn't have tooltips on its minimize, maximize and close buttons. Windows XP gives out information about your computer even when you don't want to. It's uncompatible with most DOS games, hard to get games for Win95/Win98 to work, sucks at playing MIDI, especially in games. Not to mention that the system drains your resources much more than 95/98.

To fix the DOS games problem you can download dosbox.sourceforge.net.
I've been using FireFox since it was Firebird and it truly is the best browser out there. 0.9 came out recently, so version 1.0 should be coming out sometime soon.

I have an unwanted toolbar, that blocks pop-ups but freezes for a minute when it does.

I hate IE, but have never tried using a different browser. Also, for those using XP but not IE, I have a question: Is IE removed from your system or do you simply not use the browser?

I simply don't use it, I don't believe IE can be completely removed anyway.
The target release date for FF 1.0 is September 14.

[Edit by PSLassic on [TIME]1089582262[/TIME]]

Removable only from Windows 95.
It's how MS won the war with Netscape: they cannot remove their browser simply because it is built-in.
It's part of the Operating System and shares routines with Windows Explorer; that's why we must patch it even if we don't use it.

Okay, so some of you are saying Mozella, some FireFox... does it matter? Or is it simply a matter of NOT using Explorer?

You can use both at the same time if you want to. I did just because I could. IE will not come off unless you go to add remove programs. ;)
EDIT: What am I saying? I ran 3 browsers at the same time. I forgot my computer CAME with Netscape. :D
[Edit by Prince Noah on [TIME]1089582409[/TIME]]

I don't remember what it was called, though.
[Edit by Benoit on [TIME]1089583496[/TIME]]
