I'm kind of lacking on good literature. Can anyone recommend a few good detective novels to me? It's been a long time since I read one and I'm really wanting to try one.

If you have some suggestions, It'd be nice.

If you enjoy a comedic/satirical route to your detective stories, then Ben Elton has written a few crime novels that are highly entertaining. I'd recommend 'Dead Famous' and 'Post Mortem'. One is about a murder during a reality TV show, and the other is about a series of killings related to a school reunion type message board. This is the same author who co-wrote shows such as Black Adder and the Young Ones. I highly recommend. :)

Oh... and this has nothing to do with crime novels, but I'd really recommend his book 'Blind Faith' to anyone looking for a Brave New World kind of novel. I remember reading it in two sittings over the course of one day.

I'll definitely look them up at my local bookstores.

I came with this question the other day when I saw the mistery section at one of the bookstores near the bus stop I frequent, but the girl there couldn'd make a recommendation... She was smiling like "tee-hee" as I smiled like "Crap, she's oblivious about her job!"

I remember reading Brave New World as a child... It sparked my interest in futuristic fiction. My mom thought I was weird... Actually, she still does.

I have an interesting comic about Brave New World I got from the /lit/ section on 4chan. Mind if I post it?

Recently I read both BNW and BNW Revisited. Mighty scary books, and the comic is frighteningly to the point. That being said, some points have to be awarded to Orwell as well: the infrastructure for total surveillance could be in place tomorrow, and here in the West many governments are passing laws allowing them to spy on their citizens without formal suspicions.
(Orwell was also, in my opinion, the more accomplished writer of the two.)
