If it isnt a remake, why is there mentions of characters like Various, Ken, Tao, Luke, Lowe, Hans, Anri, Ramladu and Nova, in ign's site alone ?

That still makes it a remake, I think. All remakes are based on a game.

Well then you have to be right. I guess then that means FF tactics advance is a remake too because its based on ff tactics for PSone.

If they had returning characters in a new Shining Force game would be cool! :)

Shining Force 1 remake

I played this game today. A friend of mine, who works at my favourtie manga shop, owns it and I could play it on his GBA SP. :)
Graphically it looks very good. Only problem is that the angle of the map has slightly changed, which makes the characters look a bit big in proportion to the map, and making moving during battle a bit of precision work.
I haven't played the original one, but I have heard the battle theme before, and it's a little bit different(remixed probably), but still faithful to the original. So I think the sound overall is faithful to the original and pretty well done.
The game is fun to play, and pretty well done overall.
About the cards... When I talked a second time with members of the Force before the first battle, I would receive a card from most of them. When you travel with the wagon to the Gate of the Ancients, suddenly you're teleported to some cave, with a mysterious character before you. He says the he collects cards, and that they could be useful to you. Then you warp back. When I had defeated the Rune Knight, I got a "Rune Knight Card" from him.
Basically, cards are just an optional thing you can collect. It doesn't affect the game much.
Maybe you're wondering "WTF how did he play it? It's not out yet here. Not even in Japan!".
Hehe... Well it's out already here in Europe, before the US and even Japan. :D
MUAHAHAHAHA! XD
Overall, great game. Buy it. :)

Oh my dear NM-2011! Benoit was negative about something and so he plays it and now he loves it! What are the chances! We have a act of God here people. :D
Anyways, You need to apply the same logic to SHining Tears and PLAY IT before you judge it.
Being wrong is not fun :(

Actually I was negative about it when I heard that it was a card game. Later I learned that it wasn't, so that's different.

Benoit, I looked on Amazon.co.uk and found the remake there. Do you happen to know if it will play on a US GBA? Is it in English?
[Edit by zoothe on [TIME]1083877801[/TIME]]

All portable consoles are universal, since there's not PAL, NTSC, SECAM and other standards involved for the screen.
So yes, it will play fine on your Game Boy Advance.
Yup, it's in English. In fact, you can choose between five languages!

Okay cool. I was thinking about just ordering it, but it's £25 (which is like $50) and the game comes out here in a month. This is one of those times when patience really is a virtue, eh? :D

[Edit by zoothe on [TIME]1083886596[/TIME]]
