Actually, only Crys and Adan have similar endings. Aron and Sean have very different endings compared to the others. I still like Crys' ending the most though.

Well, yeah, I guess. I sort of based my opinion on the fact that they all blew the city to hell using Megid at the end. I was dissapointed that Dark Force didn't eat them. I would've prefered that ending lol.

Yeah..."Then your company died..." type on endings in games aren't usually good. It can feel like "game over".
PSII goes close to that, but not too close. At least I thought that they did won the earthmen, but did Rolf and others survive from Noah is another story.

It would be fun to watch your party get munched up by Dark Force, though. They should have put that in if you lost, accompanied, of course, by the text: "Omnomnomnom".

Man I remember being so pissed as a kid when I bought a Laconian Dagger. I warped/flew back to Paseo, got Shir and...............almost cried I'm sure. I just couldn't understand it at all.

Rolf did survive. Shorlty after the Phantasy Star 2, Rolf opened up an armor shop.... or a bunch of armor shops.
