Some strange questions from a long time fan...

Postby Sorcerer » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:12 pm

I've been playing Phantasy Star on and off for years, yet these questions never occured to me untill now.

Was Alis with Nero when he was killed?. It looks like that when in the opening, but then I question why was not Alis killed or taken in custody?

Lassic seems very aware of her when they meet later in the game. Was Alis part of a rebelion with her brother?

Second question, I started PS2 recently and finally got around to questioning who those two women are in the title credits. I never thought about it before but are they representations of Mother Brain?

Thank to all in advance who can offer any insight to these questions.

I think they are, yes. One raises her arm up and the other lifts her arm down, which I think symbolises how Mother Brain both makes Algol prosper and guides it to its doom.

Wow, thats a pretty astute observation I would have never made, but it makes sense as both represenations flank the planets.

Thanks for the response!!!

(This is just speculation on my part, and I could be way off base, especially as I am not familiar with the non-English versions.)

To me, it always looked like Alis arrived on scene just before Nero succumbed to his injuries. I never got the impression that she was part of his rebellious activities. Whether someone ran to get her or she just happened to be wandering by when he was taking his last breaths is anyone's guess.

*SPOILER FOR PSI*

Considering that Alis is the true heir to the throne of Algol, I don't think it's that surprising that Lassic knows who she is.

Of course you are correct. Lassic would certainly know her for this reason. If not that then for the trouble she caused making her way to him.

I always forget that Alis is the heir to the throne of Algol.

The way the story is presented I believe you never know that until the end.
The way the game is structured it makes Alis seem like an ordinary citizen out to avenge her brother.

Still considersing all the limiataions they were up against I think the graphics are beautiful, the story is fantastic. What an achievment!
Miles ahead of Dragon Warrior 1 or Final fantasy 1.

Probably my favorite game of all time.

From what I understand they used every single space of memory on the cart and that they could barely fit the credit sequence at the end.
