As it was a spiritual sequel to Phantasy Star Online, I liked the similar gameplay, though it wasn't as precise, and there was too much of an emphasis on grinding Photon Arts and customisation. The crafting felt tacked on to me.
There's more I could say about the rest of the game's design, but I don't want to get too long at this moment.
The story mode was nice, if a bit cheesy at times.
Like I said above, it's most like Phantasy Star Online, which was a 3D Diablo. There are other games that Phantasy Star Online inspired, like Monster Hunter and God Eater, but they are really their own thing.
Get Xenoblade Chronicles!
