We talked a bit about the french version and we decided of a deadline to avoid polishing the translation forever, which is "November, 3".

The translation might be released before, but if it's not, we'll definitively release it on this day.

Awesome! A date to mark on the calendar! Can't wait!

It is a horrible shame that PSIV didn't get a polished remake. I really, really would have loved it.

That is incorrect. We have many people following the French translation as well. The reason why it is all in one thread is simply because there have been some collaborations between the translators of the French and English version.

For an update on the English translation, there was a post for not too long ago, please check the recent history of this thread.

Another reason is there's only one hacker for all the translations (a Spanish one was debated at some point, but the translator just vanished), and this hacker is me (and a spanish hacker CUE that deciphered the compression to begin with). So each progress with one version has consequences on others. You can translate all the games you wish, if there's no hacker to fix the game routines and decipher the encoding schemes, it's no use.

You would know this if you had read the thread in its entirety. So I will try not to be mean, but next time, as we say in French, move your tongue seven times in your mouth before saying nonsenses.

As for the current status of the English version, I had a mail from Kyence last week, she's still translating the script. I think it'll take some time before we have a release.

It's surprising enough to see how people underrate the difficulty of hacking and translating a console game...

Yup, the french version give some good things to the future english one.

Without the french version for example, you wouldn't be able to play the future translation on a real PS2, as I'm the one who did all the tests and motivated Tryphon to fix the hack (which wasn't working at first on a real PS2, had to do more than 20 versions to get rid of all the crashs).

Not to mention Kyence can read french and now have a whole script translated is a language easier than japanese to double check her translations, which speed up things.

In fact, without the french version, you wouldn't probably have an english version in fact, as Tryphon is the hacker and wouldn't probably have done such a polished hack without a translation in his native language.

The patcher, that I suppose Kyence will also use, come from the french version.

About the english version, it might not be released before 2015 I think.

We have the french script translated since Juanuary 2014, and as you see, the translation is still not released, so if you count the time they'll need to finish the translation, proofread the scripts, test the game, fix errors, etc... it might take a few more months.

Not to mention that even if you can't read french, it might be easier for you, waiting for the english translation, to play the french version rather than the japanese version, as a lot of words are the same (or look the same) between english and french.

Actually doing the last tests.

Translation test, patching test, etc... (Though I think pscave will also offer a prepatched version, but we also need patches as other websites don't allow prepatched version, as romhacking.net or the french equivalent of it), and I can confirm it'll be ready for November 3, as planned (and even probably before).

According Missagh, it'll be released today, around 9pm but as I don't now his local time, can't say precisely when ;)

Only thing I can say is right now, time is 15h40 in France so it should be released in the next 8 hours to have it released on November 3 in our local time :)
