Quick update:
All pending files are in the process of being translated - thanks, everyone! I was exceptionally fortunate to have some time this past weekend and got the Esper Mansion file done.
I will start working on "Dezorifying" the files Blaw translated last week. After that, I will do a review of the files, mainly for term consistency and any changes to the flow of text. As I go through these, I wouldn't mind others checking for typos that I miss. I'll definitely contact people for help with that in the coming weeks. After this check, I plan on releasing a beta to a couple of people, fix any issues that come up, and then the final release.
There is something on my mind, though. The poll - during my time away, it flipped a little. It seems quite a few people would like to have the English version's names used. When I had started the poll in what seems a billion years ago, it was to gauge whether doing two versions of the game was something in high demand (i.e., how I had Lutz & Noah versions for PSG1). My intention was always to make the Japanese version, and, if people were really interested, somehow make time to make one with the English names. It's obvious lots of people want Rolf & Co.!
I'd have to edit a few graphic files with the English names. The names to be changed would be Rolf & friends, Ustvestia, and AMeDAS would be changed to Climatrol. Other town names, items, techniques, etc. will be identical between the two versions. Then, I have to replace the main character names in all of the text and data files, which would be done after proofreading. This part isn't necessarily difficult, just tedious, even with Find/Replace. Here's my question to the forum about an English name version: should I hold back on the beta testing of the Japanese name translation and have the English name one beta tested the same time, or beta test the Japanese name one, fix the kinks, and then beta test the English name one? This will lead to two different release times, likely weeks apart. What is everyone's take on this?
Also, could a moderator close the poll for votes? It's been open for a couple of years (!!), and I have my answer now
