My special ability is detecting typos in the English language, so I can do some proofreading if it's necessary. :)

Kyence need to edit them first, but you can see with her once the whole script will be done.

This is also my super-power, and I would be happy to put it to use for the community.

I guess Kyence will probably do a beta version of the game (either private or public) once the whole script will be translated to fix most of the typos.

Just wanted to say thanks to Kyence and everyone helping out getting this translated, this was the first rpg game I ever had played back when it came out on sega genesis.
I would be willing to beta test the game if it would help :-)

Hi just wanted to let everyone know my progress: Currently I'm about 1/3 done with the translation of my file (specifically done up to line 126 of 312.) I'll edit this post when I get around 2/3 done, and then fully done.

Edit 1: Reached the 2/3 mark!

Edit 2: FINISHED!!!

Quick update:

All pending files are in the process of being translated - thanks, everyone! I was exceptionally fortunate to have some time this past weekend and got the Esper Mansion file done.

I will start working on "Dezorifying" the files Blaw translated last week. After that, I will do a review of the files, mainly for term consistency and any changes to the flow of text. As I go through these, I wouldn't mind others checking for typos that I miss. I'll definitely contact people for help with that in the coming weeks. After this check, I plan on releasing a beta to a couple of people, fix any issues that come up, and then the final release.

There is something on my mind, though. The poll - during my time away, it flipped a little. It seems quite a few people would like to have the English version's names used. When I had started the poll in what seems a billion years ago, it was to gauge whether doing two versions of the game was something in high demand (i.e., how I had Lutz & Noah versions for PSG1). My intention was always to make the Japanese version, and, if people were really interested, somehow make time to make one with the English names. It's obvious lots of people want Rolf & Co.!

I'd have to edit a few graphic files with the English names. The names to be changed would be Rolf & friends, Ustvestia, and AMeDAS would be changed to Climatrol. Other town names, items, techniques, etc. will be identical between the two versions. Then, I have to replace the main character names in all of the text and data files, which would be done after proofreading. This part isn't necessarily difficult, just tedious, even with Find/Replace. Here's my question to the forum about an English name version: should I hold back on the beta testing of the Japanese name translation and have the English name one beta tested the same time, or beta test the Japanese name one, fix the kinks, and then beta test the English name one? This will lead to two different release times, likely weeks apart. What is everyone's take on this?

Also, could a moderator close the poll for votes? It's been open for a couple of years (!!), and I have my answer now :D

I would be happy as well to test the translation if bata testers are needed, I have both the physical play station 2 and PCSX2 if that matters at all.

There was no option to close the poll, so instead I've adjusted the poll's running time. It should close automatically after one day.

It sounds a little easier to beta test the Japanese name one, fix it then beta test the English name one.
I would be willing to beta test both of them, I have a lot of time on my hands but I know this game like the back of my hand.

For now, I would advice to just use the japanese names until the translation is ready to be released. Once it is, it'll be easier to add the english names (as all the other work will be done) and it'll avoid to have to do two beta-test (if you just change the names, no need to retest everything).

It would be really time-consuming to report/fix things in each text file when you can just finalize one and then quickly modify it to put the "english names".

Personally, we didn't got this problem because no one in french asked for the old names (one people just asked to have easier spell names, older ones, and as he helped a lot on the typos fix, I made him a custom and exclusive version with the spell names he wanted), and Climatrol fit very well in French as "Climat" mean "Climate" in french so it's probably the only old name which survived in the french version.
